Working in shorter spurts on your website may prevent Forest for the Trees Syndrome.
We instituted The 25-minute Rule
During a live website writing session recently
And I must say
It was glorious
We rarely go beyond an hour per call
But this was extenuating circumstances
Where we had to write an entire homepage
In only 2 hours.
We crafted the narrative in advance of course
Along with our StoryBrand elevator pitch
But it can still take up to 5 hours of session time
To write something of this magnitude.
My only stipulation was that we work for 25 minutes
And walk away from our computers for 5
Take five 😉
For a total of four 25-minute sessions over 2 hours
With 5 minute breaks in between.
In the end
It was the messiest wireframe I’ve ever witnessed
But we really did write
An entire website homepage
That stands to raise
Hundreds of millions of dollars
To solve climate change.
You could see why we needed to work fast.
I’m here,
Kevin
P.S. I honestly don’t know much about the Pomodoro Method and that’s on purpose. I use it to avoid procrastination, among many purposes, so the last thing I want is to go down a rabbit hole researching it. But it does work and I’d love to hear your thoughts if you try it.
