Subliminal sales

Your homepage is likely selling even when you don’t mean for it to

And not selling what you you would prefer it to

And here’s why:

You’ve been led to believe that you need all the things in the first 7 seconds of your homepage

✔️ Navigation

✔️ Logo

✔️ Call to action

✔️ Newsletter sign-up

✔️ Visuals of some kind

That’s just the way it’s always been done, right?

Except that all of those things are selling something:

Decide if you want to do that

Interpret the deeper meaning behind my logo

Needless to say, it’s a lot to put on your prospect’s plate

And that’s just in the first 7 seconds!

See if this helps:

Before you start unwittingly selling

Try picking the one thing you really want your prospect to do

Above all else

And sell that one thing:

P.S. I say an email newsletter only because it’s another way of selling your prospect on giving you a lot more chances to add value to their business on a consistent basis. Sort of like when you were a kid and you finally figured out the answer to “If you could have one wish” and the answer was obviously “3 MORE WISHES!” ????
