Audience One wanted to watch the fun, dark, violent, authentic, immersive world of an anti-hero who’s not so different than the rest of us. Anybody guess what Audience Two was?
Less yacking, more whacking
And those are the words of creator David Chase
Chase didn’t discover this until a few years into making what is often referred to as the greatest drama in TV history
But as far as your business is concerned …
See if this helps:
You can absolutely have two audiences
Or a dozen!
But you have to find one audience
Who’s drawn in
Loves
Needs
Craves
And cannot look away
From the crystal clear premise
Of what you offer.
I’m here,
Kevin
P.S. If you haven’t seen “Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos on HBO,” I can’t recommend it enough – especially if you’re an aspiring hyper-consistent, non-writer who wants to write just enough to work with awesome, awesome clients.
