I had a sales call last week that felt like walking into an ambush
Everything I said
He countered with an opposing view
And within the first 5 minutes it appeared I’d lost control of the conversation
And so I gave up and said, as best as my memory serves me:
Listen, I’m clearly not very good at this. Please just take what you can from this and let me know if I can refer you to a colleague.
And he said, “Nope, I read all of your daily emails and I want you to write my website. How soon can you start?”
I was genuinely willing to walk away from the conversation
Unless I was in a position to provide value
Which I proceeded to do my level best
For the remainder of the call.
