Your LinkedIn headline might not be helping you do what you were ultimately hoping it would do for you on LinkedIn.
If you’re like me and your demand of LinkedIn is singular:
Start 1 on 1 conversations with my prospects
Then please allow me to do a quick exercise:
LinkedIn sent me an email this morning saying 2 people had DM’d me.
The email listed both profile headlines.
I listed them below without their photos or names and would like to know
Are you more likely to respond to:
Headline 1:
MBA, CPA, Specializing in Financial Accounting and Tax Preparation
Or
Headline 2:
I am a Christian Mindset & Leadership Speaker and Coach. I help people eliminate noise and chaos
Now, I am neither Christian, nor in the market for a Christian Mindset Leadership Speaker and Coach, but hot damn
I know what profile #2 does, can refer her if I meet someone with those needs, and to be honest, if I met her in a social situation, I bet we’d have a great
Yup
1 on 1 conversation
And here’s the kicker:
Right next to each profile listing
Within the email that LinkedIn sends
Alerting your prospect that you’ve reached out to them
Sits a nice, round, clear as day
REPLY button
See if this helps:
Copy n’ paste your current LinkedIn headline and put it below this one:
I am a Christian Mindset & Leadership Speaker and Coach. I help people eliminate noise and chaos
If your headline goes beyond “chaos” it will be cut off when LinkedIn updates your prospect that you’ve DM’d them.
Next, consider writing it as a complete thought, rather than just a title.
And finally, think about whether your headline is compelling enough for your prospect to read it and at least be tempted to click REPLY.
I’m here,
Kevin
