That can still lead to really good writing for your website.
My wife and I love the comedy podcast Smartless
- Because it’s hilarious
- They really do ask the least smart questions
Smartless is 3 of the most beloved actors of our time who
Rather than asking good questions
As one would normally do on say an interview-style show
Instead, simply fawn all over their guest
Gang up on each other
And somehow get around to asking a “closed” question
That we’re all taught only leads to “yes” or “no” answers
Often referred to as Interview Death Spiral
And yet, somehow lead to very thoughtful, funny, genuinely insightful answers
From guests that don’t give nearly as good of an interview on other shows.
Why this is also not a bad way to write your website
Sure, there are certain questions I prefer to ask to write the kind of website that brings you booked calendar appointments
But …
Above all else there must be:
- Genuine, enthusiastic, laser-focused interest on what the business owner does
- Kindness, ease and joy in the room (or zoom)
#2 is more art than science
But it tends to come from the interviewer
Being dead set on making sure the interviewee
Feels smart.
I’m here,
Kevin
