“I’ve never solved anything in front of a computer screen.” ~ Tyson Reed
As our sons were playing D&D this past weekend
My neighbor Tyson and I talked about our work.
We do very different things
I’m a copywriter
He’s an actuary
And yet we come at the problem the same way:
We know when to attack
And when to walk away
Pretty sure Kenny Rogers is good at this too ๐
Tyson goes cross country skiing at the golf course across from where we live
I take a shower, play wordle or stretch my aching shoulders
But we really see eye to eye on the
Come-back-to-it-ive-ness
See if this helps:
The work you’re producing is meaningful
But the insight will most likely come
When you step away
And come back to it.
I’m here,
Kevin
P.S. David C. Baker posted an old David Ogilvy letter on LinkedIn yesterday where the advertising legend openly admits he’s a fair to middling copywriter but excels as an editor. All of which is to say, get it down on paper (or screen) so you can come back to it.
