Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible ~ Dalai Lama
It’s 3:06pm and my prospect hasn’t shown.
The zoom is up
My notes are in place
And still – no prospect.
The usual doom, gloom and wrong-headed assumptions creep up
Until I say to myself:
Stop.
Reverse course
Crank up the kindness
I call it “basic goodness” (as does the person quoted above 😉
I send him a gentle reminder of our appointment
And then in my head I wish him, his family, his friends and even his enemies
Peace, safety, good health, success
And may he always be surrounded by lots of good friends, family and kindness
We all deserve this.
At 3:17 I go to quit zoom and I get the zoom “admit” ding
He is not well. His personal life is in shambles. And above all he is apologetic.
And more than my notes, my lighting, the sound, my questions and all of my prep work
I am fully prepared to offer generosity in the moment
Which in turn gives us a pretty decent shot
At preparing us both
For our next calls.
I’m here,
Kevin
