Stepping away from what you believe to be your sole purpose in life can have a bright side
I have not had a client in 3 years walk away from an engagement without knowing their “sun”
I define a Sun as the one thing you want your business to do that you believe can change the world
The Sun for my own business has evolved over time, but has always gravitated toward helping people maintain an active interest in what they do for a living for the life of their career
A little over 6 weeks ago I woke up on a Sunday morning
Only to find that my Sun had gone dormant
Nothing but cold empty space
I couldn’t write a word
I had no interest, no inkling, no mind
A daily email streak dating back over 700 days stopped dead in its tracks
I talked to my wife
I took walks with my friends
I zoomed with my support group
Many of whom I met through this list
I met with my psychiatrists
Yes, both of them
At one point, I gave serious consideration to becoming a real estate agent
Not even kidding
And then I wept for what I had worked so hard for
And lost
The thing I had wanted most
For as long as I could remember:
A job I loved
See if this helps:

I’m here,

P.S. My kiddos and I landed at Love Field in Dallas this past Monday to visit the grandparents. As luck would have it, we literally rolled our luggage out of baggage claim, put on our glasses, lifted our faces to the sky and watched our sun go away and come back – strong as ever.
